So – practise kids really need to know plant nursery rhymes anymore?  I hateful, really, a man who keeps his wife in a pumpkin?  24 birds, baked alive, in a pie?  Who came up with this stuff?

Here'southward the thing: nursery rhymes are like shooting fish in a barrel to remember.  They're fun.  It doesn't matter that they don't make sense.  What does thing is that our kids know and love them.

Mem Fox, author and didactics specialist,  states this in her volume Reading Magic: ""Experts in literacy and kid development have discovered that if children know eight nursery rhymes by center by the fourth dimension they're four years onetime, they're ordinarily among the best readers past the fourth dimension they're eight."

When my Four was ii years old, I was concerned because he wasn't picking up the alphabet similar his older siblings had done.  So I started creating these alphabetic character books of songs and rhymes.  Before long afterward, I launched this blog.  These letter books, combined with focused attention to the alphabet, helped him go from recognizing 3 letters to all 26 in just a few months.

Merely just as important, they have given him a wonderful foundation of rhyme.  Rhyming is such an important skill for kids learning to read.  That's why I recommend press and assembling my little books of rhymes and songs to enjoy with your toddler or preschooler.

Georgie Porgie, pudding and pie

 How to assemble my Little Letter Books:

• Print the document in colour (if you desire) on cardstock.  Exist certain to print pages 2-3 front to back (folio one is my Terms of Use). Yous will need only one piece of paper.
• Cut an even line across the center of the page.
• Fold the two sheets to make a volume. Brand sure the cover is in front, and insert the other folio inside.
• Staple with a long arm stapler.
